Adventures in ear piercing...

Well...we got Mackenzie's ear's pierced on Saturday - 6/21. Lord! You would have thought we were tearing her limbs off!!

She was doing ok when she was just sitting in the chair with her Daddy. She didn't like the lady marking her ears though. Then she realized something was up once Daddy had to actually hold her still. (Aaron was not pleased with me that he had to be the bad guy )Then all hell broke loose when she got poked with the needle! She was so pissed!!

I took her out to the car while Grandma & Grandpa paid to see if I could feed her and calm her down and man was that a chore. It's not really easy to feed a baby who just got her ears pierced. She didn't want me touching her ears and it's hard to BF without touching her ears somehow. I finally figured it out though and just held her head with the palm of my hand. All is well with the world now and she looks cute as heck (Besides the fact that the earrings are gold which Aaron and I hate. We can change them in 4 wks though, so we'll get her white gold ones then.)!The lady did a good job. I was happy a piercing gun wasn't used on her. The earrings in her ear have a thin post, so her hole isn't too large (like the guns give you). And...she seemed to know a lot about piercing baby's ears, so that made me feel good. I'm glad it's all over now and we won't have to do it when she's older. This way she won't remember it happening :)
Here's the little munchkin showing off her new earrings!

Pool time...

Who knew you'd like the water so much! The first time you went in the pool was at your Auntie Renee's house on Memorial Day. We went and found you this adorable lady bug float and couldn't wait to see how you did. We didn't leave you in the water for long since it was your first time, but you seemed to enjoy it. We all had so much fun watching you experience this FIRST!

A week later Grandpa wanted to take you swimming at their pool, so they got you all decked out for your swimming adventure there! You got a new raft to keep at their house which you absolutely LOVE!! We put you in the water and you almost instantly went to sleep. It was the cutest thing ever. I think you were in the pool for around an hour and a half and you slept the whole time. Now I know what to do with you when you won't go to sleep :)

Our little model

We knew your first week of life that you'd be a little model. Erin Potter with Captures by Erin came to the house to do your first photo shoot. We couldn't believe how good you were! Between you and Erin there was no chance that your pictures wouldn't be beautiful. We were so happy when we got your pictures. They're adorable and we'll always treasure them!

And so the fun starts...

You were so tiny when we brought you home. You had lost 8 oz. while in the hospital and they were watching your weight closely. I had to wake you every 2 hrs around the clock to feed you for the first month until you put some weight on. No one ever thought you would go without clothes, but you did! None of your clothes fit you because you were so tiny!! Grandma went out after we got home and bought you a bunch of preemie clothes to get you by until you gained some weight.

You also had Jaundice, so we had to spend time with you out in the sun every day. You were such a little trooper through all of this. Sitting out in the sun wasn't fun for you, but you did it. You just kept your eyes closed a lot! You definitely take after your Daddy when it comes to having the sun in your eyes! haha!

Granny Jan came to the hospital dressed up as the Easter Bunny, so you could get your first Easter Bunny picture. Everyone thought you looked so cute with the Bunny! The nurses all thought you were such a lucky girl to have the Easter Bunny come to you!!!

We celebrated your first Easter the week after you came home from the hospital. Your Grandma & Grandpa Tubbs bought you an adorable Easter dress to wear, but you were so tiny that it didn't fit you! You had to wear one of your little preemie outfits instead.

From the beginning...

I felt I needed to start at the beginning! The day my precious girl entered my life and everything as I knew it changed.

March 12, 2008

I didn't get much sleep the night before because I was so excited to meet Mackenzie. I was nervous that they had to move up my c-section, but I had faith in Dr. Garner and knew he would get her here safely! And he did! Mackenzie Diane graced us with her presence on 3/12/08 at 9:39 AM. She was 6 lbs 12 oz and 18 1/4 inches long. The surgery went great and they had us back in our room bonding within no time at all. I never realized how much my life would revolve around her from that minute forward.

I think your Dad was surprised with the feelings of
love he had for you. He knew he would adore you, but I don't think he realized just how much. You are his baby girl and he's already so protective over you.

Your Grandparents were all there for your birth and they were so excited to meet you. I bet if I let them they probably would have been in the delivery room with us! They were all waiting at the window for Daddy to show you off :)

I love you sweetie and I'm so proud to be your Mom!

I'm jumping in...

I've been saying since Mackenzie was born that I needed to start a blog for her. She's now almost 3 1/2 mo's old, so I figured it was about time to actually start one instead of just talking about it. I have no idea how all of this works, so just deal with it until I get it figured out...haha!

For now I'll say...
Welcome to this world sweet baby girl! I'm so happy to have you in my life. You make me laugh every day! You're a spitting image of your Daddy. You look like him and you act like him. That both scares me and makes me laugh :) You're definitely the best gift in the world and I can't wait to see where our lives take us!! Rock on kiddo!
