Happy Birthday to me!

WOW! This year has flown by. I can't believe I'm another year older...sigh! Kiddo, you're making me feel old...haha! I wake up exhausted, pains creeping up and down my body, and gray hairs trying to fight their way in to my lovely locks...haha! Little girlie, you're lucky I love you more than anything ;)

So...here's to a great year! I have you in it, so it has to be good!!

E's 1st birthday party...

We had a wonderful time celebrating Emmawyn's 1st Birthday! There were a ton of friends there to play with, so you girls had a blast! Auntie Lisa made yummy cupcakes for all of the kids (and man were they CUTE!). She made you your very own sans everything you're allergic to, so you could partake in the cupcake fun! Isn't she the best??? You weren't quite sure what to think when all the other kids got one and so did you! That doesn't ever happen.

You weren't exactly happy with me when I took the cupcake away. I didn't want you to have too much since she had to use wheat flour in it. Wheat flour is easier to digest then wheat, but it's still wheat. I didn't want to take too big of a chance...haha!

Happy Birthday Emmawyn!

I really can't believe Emmawyn is 1! That means you'll be 1 just around the corner (sigh)!! Why do you girls have to grow up so fast?!?

Her party was planned for her actual birthday, January 28th (my fellow Aquarian) but due to the storm Lisa rescheduled it for the 29th. We couldn't let her birthday go by without seeing her, so we got together for lunch and playtime :)

I guess it's my own fault...

Everyone thought you were the cutest little boy today! LOL! I guess I can't blame them though. Your outfit doesn't exactly scream little girl! I love it though, so that's all that matters. Grandpa bought you this beanie when you were born and it finally fits you. It was cold as heck, you were sick, and we had to go to the doctors, so it was a great day to wear it. It kept your entire head nice and warm :) He bought you babylegs that match it, but it was way too cold for those. Maybe another day you can wear them together!

Your first actual cold...

You started showing the cold symptoms last week and I figured it was a tooth coming in again. The last time I thought you had a cold that's all it ended up being. This time the congestion seemed to get worse though and your Dad was getting concerned. It was moving in to your chest, so I made an appointment for you to see the doctor.

Thankfully it wasn't RSV! That's what they were most worried about because it was going around. He said you just had a cold and it would run its course! We got you some decongestant and gave that to you for a couple of days. Other then that we just loved on you, sucked your nose out a lot, and tried to make you as comfortable as possible. The snot was out of control! I think we were both ready for you to feel better. I was sick of cleaning it off of your face and out of your nose and you were sick of dealing with me...haha!

Today is Inauguration Day! I decided to make an exception and let you watch TV today. I didn't let you watch everything, but I definitely wanted you to see it. I think it was an important day. We live in a world that is filled with people who have issues on race. It's not just one race...every race has people who are prejudiced against another. I hope by the time you're my age this is no longer an issue. We hope to raise you in a home where you see that everyone is equal regardless of their race or religion.

So, back to why it was an important day for me...
I felt like there was hope in this world because enough people chose to vote for Barack Obama even though he was of mixed race. When he started campaigning I remember telling your Dad "There are way too many people in this country that are not ok with other races and I just don't know that he'll ever get enough votes to pull this off!" I was so happy to see that I was wrong. I hope this is a sign of better days to come. You should be judged on your knowledge and your ability to do a job. Not your sex, race, or religion!
